Adding music

How do I add music?

Open the Files app, go to On My iPhone › MW Player, and copy or move your music there. MW Media Player picks it up when it opens or when you pull down in the Library. You can also copy files from a Mac with Finder, under your iPhone’s Files tab.

Can I play music from iCloud Drive or another folder?

Yes. In the Library, tap Add Folder… and choose any folder in Files. MW Media Player plays it where it is; nothing is copied. Songs that are still in iCloud show a cloud icon and download when you tap them.

Can I play music from OneDrive?

Yes. Install the OneDrive app and sign in there, then tap Add Folder… in MW Media Player and choose a folder under OneDrive. To keep a folder’s songs on your iPhone, open it in Settings › Library and turn on Keep Downloaded. Remove Downloads frees the space again.

Why doesn’t a new song show up?

Pull down in the Library or in the folder to refresh. With Scan on Launch on (Settings › Library), MW Media Player also checks your folders each time it opens. To save battery it doesn’t check them in between.

Which formats are supported?

MP3, M4A, M4B, AAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and FLAC audio, and MP4 and MOV video. OGG, WMA and APE files aren’t supported on iPhone.

Playback

Does MW Media Player remember where I stopped?

Yes. With Resume Where Left Off on (Settings › Playback), each file continues from where you stopped, which is handy for long recordings.

Can I play a video as audio only?

Yes. Switch between Audio and Video in the player. Audio-only videos get the equalizer and keep playing when you lock your iPhone.

Why can’t I use the equalizer or speed with Apple Music?

Apple Music songs are played by Apple’s own player, which doesn’t allow apps to change their sound or speed. The equalizer, crossfade and playback speed work with your own files.

Why can’t I see my Apple Music library?

Apple Music needs an active subscription and permission to use it. Check Settings › Apple Music in MW Media Player, or turn on Media & Apple Music for MW Media Player in the iOS Settings app.

Can I edit a song’s title or artwork?

Yes. Touch and hold a song and choose Edit Info…. Changes are saved into the file (MP3, M4A, M4B, ALAC, FLAC, MP4 and MOV).
